At the annual general meeting in 2005, the Nursing Alumni Association was renamed the Nursing and Midwifery Alumni Association in line with the renaming of the Faculty of Nursing to the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery. At the AGM the decision was also made to cease membership fees but continue to recruit members to the Nursing and Midwifery Alumni Association.

Membership of the Association helps us keep in contact with you, so you can be informed of special events and Alumni gatherings. It’s also your way of keeping in touch with the Faculty and wider University. This newsletter is being mailed to the broader Nursing and Midwifery Alumni and we will continue to be in contact with you. However, if you would like to be included on the mailing list for special events and professional development short courses please contact Sarah Goodman-Jones (Tel: +61 2 93510677 or email: sarahgj@nursing.usyd.eud.au) and we will add your contact details to our mailing list. Nursing and Midwifery Alumni Association members receive a 20% discount off professional development short course fees.

The decision to establish a Nursing and Midwifery Alumni Scholarship Fund was also made at the annual general meeting in 2005 as part of the decision to cease membership fees. The details of the scholarship, including eligibility, application etc. will be finalised in the next few weeks. We will be mailing to the Nursing and Midwifery Alumni sometime in September this year calling for donations to the scholarship fund. At the same time we will provide all the details of the scholarship and we hope for generous support to enable us to establish a really worthwhile scholarship program.
