Staff Profile
Dr Jennifer Green
Lecturer
RN, CertIntCareNursing CertClinNursStudies BEd(Nursing) NE MA(Ed) Macq PhD
Jennifer is a registered nurse who has had many years experience in teaching in both the clinical setting and on-campus. Her areas of expertise include the care of the critically ill in both the critical care and acute care settings. She has been involved in the development, teaching and coordination of many undergraduate and post graduate programs. Jennifer has a post registration certificate in intensive care nursing (Sydney Hospital). She has a Bachelor’s degree in nursing education from Armidale CAE, a Master of Arts (Education and the Workforce) from Macquarie University and a PhD from the University of Sydney.
Jennifer has a particular interest in understanding how people experience living with illness and the care they receive in a changing health care system. Her PhD thesis Missing Voices: uncharted terrain, explicates the meaning of illness for people who develop lymphoedema as a direct result of medical procedures for the treatment of cancer. She coordinates a graduate unit of study; Illness, experience and embodiment, which challenges students to consider the experience of the patient and the care they receive when in pain and distress. She has presented many invited and keynote papers on lymphoedema at national and local seminars and conferences. Jennifer received a Dean's Award for Outstanding Teaching in 2005.

Community work
Since beginning her PhD thesis Jennifer became aware of the many complex physical and personal health care needs that people have as a result of lymphoedema; and how these needs are not being met by the health care system. She is a foundation member of the Lymphoedema Support Group of NSW and remains president of the group where she facilitates a support system for people living with lymphoedema across NSW.
In 2006 Jennifer was the Scientific Convenor for the 7th Australasian Lymphology Association Conference, Hyatt Hotel, 30th March – 2nd April.
Jennifer also serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Advanced Nursing.
